ASHKEFARDI
When their son was 3, he asked if he was "Ashkenazi" or "Sefardi" and when the answers "You're Jewish" and "You're Israeli" failed to satisfy the persistent child, Leonie (originally from London) and Haim (a sabra whose family hails from Libya) , coined the term "Ashkefardi". In their performance "Ashkefardi", singer/actress Leonie and cantor Haim perform Jewish songs from East and West and modern Israeli songs which unite us all. Each programme is tailor-made to suit the audience or event, from a large repertoire including Hebrew, Chassidic, Yiddish, Russian, English, Ladino, musicals, international songs, stories in song and more.
